Welcome to Western Art Editions, the LOCAL source for Western art, Southwestern art, cowboy art and Native American indian art giclee prints.

We have a large selection of high quality giclée prints for sale by established artists who specialize in the western U.S. theme in their work, specifically, Wild West art. These western art prints are giclées made from the originals, painted by artists who have actually lived the cowboy (and cowgirl!) life or grew up with the American wilderness close to them, and are local to the American Southwest. Some scenes are of life on the frontier during the era of America’s expansion westward, and others are of the peoples who were in North America first and their unspoiled surroundings. Here you will find art depicting hard-working cowboys, graceful Native Americans from the plains and pueblos, and the beautiful, timeless natural scenery that is unique to the American West. Many of the art works depict the Wild West and facets of life unique to the region in the 1800's. However, many scenes can easily be found in modern times if you know where to look, just stay on your horse and out of the way of the stampeding herds!

The Giclée (pronounced JHEE-clay, French for "to spray on" or "to spray ink") digital method of printing was first developed in 1989 by Graham Nash of the the group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and is today the most technologically advanced method of printing , and has become a widely-accepted standard medium in the world of fine art. 64% of galleries worldwide sell giclées. They are produced on acid-free water color paper or canvas like an original.  First, the original is photographed and then scanned and saved into a computer. Printing is done one line at a time using tiny ink jets thinner than a human hair, giving the finished giclée a rich texture. It is this exacting and precise method which allows the most faithful reproduction of the artwork. Giclées have been extensively tested for durability,  with pigment-based inks  made to last over 100 years without a  noticeable fade. Often, the giclée is MISTAKEN for the original; the color and detail are simply that good. Each giclée is color-matched before printing to ensure quality.

The giclées offered here are printed on 256 gram, acid-free archival quality concord white rag paper.

L.C. Herst loved cowboys as a child. After moving to Arizona in 1955, Herst "rode every stable horse in Phoenix" before buying a ranch. She sketched and photographed rodeos and cowboys right in the arena to be used as paintings, and rode on ranch round-ups. "My paintings reflect an honest personal response to the world around me. I want to tell stories of the west through light, color, design, and texture; and provoke an emotional rush in the viewer."

Bill Mittag paints the American West in the era before the "shadow catchers" (photographers), soldiers, and road builders changed it forever. His Native American camp scenes give you the feeling of being there. His art is in private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad. He is represented by galleries in Taos, New Mexico; Jackson, Wyoming; Vail Colorado and Chicago, Illinois among other places.
